tuktuk for kenyaIn 2013, we were able to help our partners in Kenya purchase this beautiful tuk tuk for Furaha High School located just outside of Nairobi. Other Opportunities:

Each year lots of When I Grow Up ambassadors participate in sports events all with the purpose of raising money to help eradicate extreme poverty. When I Grow Up organizes some but others are organized by others but used to help provide for the children.

Here are some examples of things you could train for and turn your sweat into help for orphans.

Tough Mudder

WIGU Ambassadors have formed teams in this 10-12 mile (18-20 km) obstacle course to not only help Wounded Warriors but get friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them to help children.

Sole to Soul

For the past few years a team of runners in Reedley, CA have raised $100 per runner to run or walk the 5-mile Reedley Fiesta Run in October. A shoe drive is held at the same time.

A volunteer who had visited our partners in Kenya got her family to help her organize a tennis tournament to raise money, and now we hold multiple sports tournaments each year.
You can do the same – or organize a friendly softball tournament, soccer tournament, ice hockey, chess, cricket, water polo… whatever!

Email carrie@whenigrowup-global.com for more information and resources for starting up your own tournament!

Run with it

Here’s some more ideas for how you can help support When I Grow Up:

  • Get a team and run the Ragnar Relay Race (you and 11 of your friends run 200 miles overnight)
  • Run a Color Me Race
  • Run a Half-Marathon and get sponsored $10 a mile
  • Make it a full marathon – relay or individual!
  • Compete in a Triathlon

The list is endless… but take a sport and give it a global purpose.

We believe that where you live shouldn't determine if you live.

Please join us in empowering children out of poverty.
